What is The Beyond Initiative?

This is the next step of faith for our church family. God is calling us to establish a home of our own in China Spring. The Beyond Initiative is our vision to fund and build a permanent church building in our community.

Counting the cost.

It’s no secret that construction costs have been high in recent years. Our Beyond Initiative team and elders have worked diligently to ensure that we are stewarding our resources with wisdom. The total estimated cost for The Beyond Initiative is $10 million. What can’t be quantified by a dollar amount is the potential of lives impacted for all eternity. Lord willing, this building will leave a legacy of faith in China Spring for generations to come. Our goal is to raise $5 million in cash offerings and pledges, and we will mortgage the remaining $5 million (pending the approval of a covenant member vote). We ask that you would prayerfully consider giving a one-time upfront gift as well as making a 3 year monthly pledge.

Wellspring Stories

Why do we need a building?

To best accommodate growth and to continue living out our mission as a church, we believe now this is the right time to establish a permanent home for Wellspring Church in China Spring. Meeting in the high school limits our ability to minister to our community. A permanent and dedicated structure will greatly expand our ministry capabilities.

What does it mean to make a financial commitment to The Beyond Initiative?

Pledges made to The Beyond Initiative are a three year commitment with a lump sum gift encouraged at the onset.

What is the best way to give?

The best way to give financially to The Beyond Initiative is online, HERE. There are options for one time and recurring gifts. The most cost effective way to give is through ACH payment, avoiding card fees.

When do we break ground?

The timing of construction will be dependent on where Wellspring is financially after commitment Sunday. Our builder, architects, and engineers are working hard to ensure that the plans are ready to go when it’s time to break ground.

What if we don't raise enough money?

Wellspring will continue to live out the mission of the church and lead people to belong, become, and go beyond. The church will gather at China Spring High School and raise funds until it is feasible to move forward with construction.

Is this the only building Wellspring will ever build?

The proposed building project is seen as a starting point. There is space designated on the building site for additional growth and creative spaces in the future.

How was the building designed?

Wellspring has partnered with RBDR Architects and teams of covenant members to design the floor plan and aesthetics seen in the building renderings.

What does the project cost include?

The total project cost of $10m includes approximately $8.75m in construction costs (including parking) and an additional $1.25m in architectural fees, utilities and TXDOT work, furniture, A/V, and more.

How is Wellspring paying for the total project cost?

The desire of the elders and finance team is to raise $5m, finance approximately $3.75m, and pay for all other expenses with cash on hand.

Will a building impact church programming?

Wellspring will have the capacity for growth in its current programming model of worship services, kids ministry, student ministry, and adult classes, with the opportunity to do more throughout the week.

Will the church take on debt for the building costs?

The church anticipates financing some portion of the project, but debt will only be taken on by the church after a vote of the covenant membership.

Who is constructing the building?

Built Wright Construction is the builder for  this project. All subcontractors who place bids will be reviewed and approved by Wellspring.

When does giving to The Beyond Initiative start?

Giving to The Beyond Initiative starts May 19th with a “cash offering” and celebration. The cash offering, lump sum gift, is vital to addressing as much of the up front costs as possible.

Why is the church collecting commitment cards?

While all commitments are confidential, pledge amounts are considered by banks in the lending process.
